MEETING IDEAS: Participate in building
the future!
1. Get involved with Engineers Without Borders
(EWB) (http://www.ewb-usa.org
or http://www.ewb-international.org/).
Fund a project (email:
grants@ewb-usa.org), mentor a student team, or sponsor
your own project. For ASME participation in this program,
visit http://www.asme.org/students/ewb.html.
At the next Engineers Without Borders (http://www.ewb-usa.org)
conference, Fall 2005, nominate your project for
an award, beginning with a paragraph submission
that addresses how your project met each of the six
award areas to EWB:
- Humanitarian: How far reaching within the
community served did your project go?
- Education: How did you utilize education
and training?
- Appropriate Technology: What innovations
were applied and at the same time maintained the integrity
of being an appropriate technology project?
- Collaborative Efforts: What did you do to
make this project work with professionals, mentors,
students and the community?
- Chapter Development: In what ways did your
project further strengthen your chapter and inspire
others to participate?
2.
Invite a speaker to your next ASME Meeting or

which the United Nations (UNEP) stimulates worldwide
awareness of the environment and enhances political
