a luncheon or dinner with a special guest speaker
- Sponsor
an event for young people at a local school or museum
- Feature
one of ASME's videos (10
Greatest Engineering Achievements, Engineering
is for Everyone)
- Donate
posters to local schools that feature women and African
American inventors/engineers (see ASME
Diversity and Outreach website for ordering information)
- Have
a reading day that features books about women, African
American and Native American inventors and engineers
- Work
with local media on features that highlight achievements,
past and present, by diverse members of engineering
community
- Is
there an ASME
Landmark, Site or Collection in your area? Find
out who the people behind the achievement were/are
plug this information into your special event
or media plans.
- Sponsor
an oral
history project interview African American,
Native American and women engineers in your community;
work with your public library or local museum to see
how their stories can enrich the town archives. Share
information about this project with the media.

within your community, your corporations, local businesses,
schools and colleges for speakers there's sure
to be many examples of outstanding engineers and technical
people who have experiences to share about diversity.
