Ron Spellman is a U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer and assistant editor of the monthly Coast Guard Magazine, for which he has produced "Astonishing Sea Stories," a comic featuring historical Coast Guard heroes. More of his work can be viewed at www.astonishingheroes.com.

Technical Advisor:
Captain Vincent Wilczynski, Ph.D., a member of ASME's 125th anniversary steering committee and also current vice-president of the Pre-College Education Board of ASME, is a professor of mechanical engineering at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.

ASME History and Heritage Advisor:
J. Lawrence Lee, Ph.D., P.E., a Fellow of ASME and former ASME History and Heritage Committee chair (1994-2000), is engineer-historian at the Historic American Engineering Record (HAER), a branch of the U.S. National Park Service.
