ASME Scrapbook: Heritage Day Dinner

In conjunction with the Board of Governors Meeting, ASME celebrated Heritage Day on April 7, 2005, at Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, New Jersey, where ASME met 125 years ago. Presentations included the Ralph Coats Roe Medal to Win Phillips, the Modern History Project transcripts to the Board of Governors, and the ASME President's Award to Stephen Tritch of Westinghouse. Stevens' Lifetime Achievement Award went to William Cuming. Johnathan Macy accepted, on behalf of Becton Dickinson, the Stevens Award for Excellence and Extraordinary Contributions in the field of mechanical engineering. ASME History and Heritage member and past president Paul Torpey presented archival transcripts of the Modern History Project to Harry Armen.   Past president Winfred Phillips received the 2005 Ralph Coats Roe Medal, named for the father of Stevens' alumnus (ASME past president) Kenneth Roe.
 
Chief executive of Westinghouse Stephen Tritch accepted the 2005 President's Award from Harry Armen.   Maestro Petru Ghenghea, founder of the Romanian Orchestra of Engineers, with Harry Armen.
DAY 2, April 8: The Romanian Orchestra of Engineers performs at DeBaun Auditorium, where ASME held its first meeting in 1880.
